Dr. Shankar Yalamanchili “Dr. Chili”

Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist

Dr. Chili is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, specializing in geriatric and adult psychiatry. He attended medical school at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. His residency was completed at University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY from July 1999 to June 2003. Additionally, Dr. Chili completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Western Psychiatry Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA from December 2003 – December 2004.

Dr. Chili’s primary practice is devoted to inpatient care and tele-psychiatry services. As owner of RRPA, Dr. Chili develops business interests for the company and strives to reach out to many providers of mental health services to positively impact wellness among this patient population.

Dr. Chili is committed to improving the care of patients with mental health illnesses. Special focus is placed on those who are uninsured or who reside in under served communities. Dr. Chili believes mental health services are more effective if collaborative efforts are employed by using psychiatrists in conjunction with medications and therapy, by mental health providers.

Dr. Jayakrishna Madabushi “Dr. Krishna”

Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist

Dr. Krishna is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, specializing in geriatric and adult psychiatry. Dr. Krishna’s initial residency was in India from 1988 to 2001. Afterward, he moved to the United Kingdom where he practiced psychiatry from 2003 to 2009.

In 2009, Dr. Krishna moved to the United States where he attended the Creighton and Nebraska University Residency Program in Psychiatry. He complete this program in May 2013. Dr. Krishna joined RRPA in July, 2013. He provides inpatient and outpatient care in our Alabaster and Birmingham locations. Dr. Krishna is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, the APA, the Medical Council of India, and the Indian Psychiatric Society.

Dr. Lawrence Rossi

Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist

Dr. Lawrence Rossi is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, specializing in geriatric and adult psychiatry. He attended medical school at Drexel University-Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1967-1971. His residency was completed at McGill University and Yale University. He has over 35 years of experience in a variety of settings. Dr. Rossi was the Clinical Director of Trenton Psychiatric Hospital and the Medical Director of a large Community Mental Health System in Connecticut. He has contributed to the field of medicine in the academic world as well. He served as a faculty member teaching and supervising psychiatric residents in the Institute of Living/University of Connecticut program for 12 years. Dr. Rossi joined RRPA in April 2017. He is currently taking new patients at our Auburn, Alabama location.

Dr. Paul G. LaRussa

Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist

Dr. LaRussa is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, specializing in geriatric and adult psychiatry. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama- Birmingham School of Medicine- from 1983 to 1987. His residency and a year of chief residency were completed at the same institution in the Department of Psychiatry, from 1987 to 1991. Dr. LaRussa subsequently serviced as Assistant Professor in the UAB Psychiatry Department.

Since leaving academic medicine, Dr. LaRussa has worked in a variety of roles, both int he public and private sector. Dr. LaRussa joined RRPA in September, 2016. He is experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry and works primarily in our Alabaster location.

 

Dr. Amin Gilani

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Amin Gilani is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical School in India. His residency was completed at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He furthered his education by completing a fellowship in Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Education affiliated with NYU School of Medicine in New York, New York and post-doctoral/fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Gilani has primarily served his patients in the hospital settings, and is now beginning to focus on providing outpatient services. Apart from his medical training, Dr. Gilani devoted his time to serve as honorary Principal for Early Childhood Development Center from 2013-2015, whose goal is to give a head start to children and to provide education about parenting skills. Dr. Gilani joined RRPA in 2017 and is now accepting new patients at our Alabaster and Sylacauga clinic locations.

 

Dr. Rebecca Burson

Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist

Dr. Rebecca Burson is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and served to the rank of Major in the US Air Force. She attended medical school at Des Moines University and completed a general psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). Dr. Burson has a wide variety of experience that has contributed to advancing the field of psychiatry to include research, teaching and patient-care activities. She has written and received over 1.2M in grants investigating inflammation, biomarkers and sleep as well as serving as the site Principal Investigator for the 3M Ketamine for Antidepressant-Resistant PTSD trial. Additionally, she has taught psychiatry residents as an adjunct professor at UTHSCSA. In her direct practice as a physician she has provided inpatient psychiatric medical services to service members while in the military where she was stratified as the top physician in the Air Force for Company Grade Officers. She also served veterans at the Audie Murphy VA inpatient psychiatric unit. Dr. Burson joined RRPA in 2017 and desires to dynamically use her clinical skills to understand the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of her patients to best work beside them towards healing. She will be providing outpatient services at the Montgomery clinic.

Phillip Walker

ARNP

Phillip Walker is a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. He earned a Bachelors in Nursing from Western Kentucky University in 2009 and since has obtained a Masters in Nursing from Western Kentucky University in 2015. He has focused his entire nursing career in providing care for patients with mental illness, first in the patient setting at Rivendell Behavioral Health Services as the charge nurse from 2010 to 2015. In 2015 Phillip began to serve patients in the outpatient setting at DBT Center of Western Kentucky. He Joined Kentucky Psychiatry when RRPA acquired the practice in May 2017, and primarily serves the child, adolescent, and adult populations.

 

Joy Cornelius

ARNP

Joy Cornelius is a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. She first obtained a Bachelors in Nursing in 1997 from the University of Louisville and continued her education to receive a Masters in Nursing in 2002 from Western Kentucky University. After completing both degrees, she received further training and education and obtained a Post Masters Certificate in Psychiatry and Mental Health. Since beginning her career, Joy has practiced nursing in both the in-patient and out-patient settings. She first focused on providing affordable healthcare services through a local community center as a family nurse practitioner, and in 2012 began serving patients with mental health needs. Joy joined Kentucky Psychiatry when RRPA acquired the practice in 2017. She provides services to the child, adolescent and adult populations.

Denise Champagne

LCSW

Denise Champagne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Minor in Criminology in 1997, then continued her education and earned a Masters in Social Work in 2002. Since beginning her career in social work, Denise has served clients in a variety of settings and in different capacities, all of which were dedicated to providing excellent mental health services. She has experience in direct practice and has also been a Director of Clinical Services. Denise began providing therapy services at DBT Center of Western Kentucky in 2013 and joined Kentucky Psychiatry when RRPA acquired the practice in 2017. She is trained to provide Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and serves the child, adolescent, and adult populations.

Annie Brown

LICSW, PIP

Annie Brown is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, with a Private Independent Practice (LICSW, PIP). She obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Montevallo in 2002, and went on to complete her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2007. While pursuing her Masters in Social Work, Annie was able to complete an internship at Cheaha Mental Health. She has experience in direct care providing social work services for hospice agencies. Annie is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has experience and expertise in providing emotional and grief support. Annie joined RRPA in December 2016 and is accepting new patients at our Sylacauga clinic location.

 

Lauren Amacker

LCSW

Lauren is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW). Lauren obtained her Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University in 2010 and Masters in Social Work from The University of Alabama in 2013. During her career, Lauren has completed internships at Best Start Maternity Care and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She has clinical experience in direct practice providing social work services for the Senior Behavior Unit at Coosa Valley Medical Center from 2013-2016. Prior to joining RRPA, Lauren received training to provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Lauren joined RRPA in December 2016 and is committed to providing each patient with quality counseling services and to improve each patient’s overall well being.

 

Josh Eslami

CRNP

Josh Eslami is a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. Josh is a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He first obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology in 2007 and then went on to obtain his Masters of Science in Nursing in 2013. He has extensive experience providing nursing services for patients in the in patient psychiatric setting for both adult and geriatric populations. Josh joined RRPA in 2013. He currently manages care for patients seeking care at an out patient clinic as well as in community mental health residential day programs. Josh is committed to providing psychiatric care to under-served populations, including providing access to telemedicine services.

 

Ann Madsen

Certified Registered Nurse and Practitioner

Ann Madsen is a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. Ann obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2007 before pursuing her nursing career. She received her ADN in 2012 and then received her MSN from the University of South Alabama in 2016. Ann’s previous experience has been serving patients in the hospital setting at East Alabama Medical Center’s psychiatric unit. Ann joined RRPA in April 2017 and is excited to serve patients in our outpatient clinic. She is currently taking new patients in our Auburn, Alabama location. Her primary focus will be with children and adolescents.
